The Good Ol’ Roast Dinner.
I eat pretty much everything, within reason…I don’t eat fast-food at all (never have TBH) and I limit packaged foods… I try to keep it to ACTUAL, REAL FOOD…most of the time (except for ice cream…there is a place for that sometimes…in moderation )
There is so much goodness in a roast… yet many “traps” or places that you can get off course.
However, as you can see here…there are mashed potatoes in there! AND gravy!!
Think about ADDING IN nutrition, colour, excitement! Make it fun and enjoyable. See below:
Ways to make a Roast Dinner healthier:
GUESS WHAT?? it all fits – so long as you have variety and watch your portion sizes. You will ALSO notice there are lots of veggies and healthy fats on that plate as well (pumpkin and sunflower seeds).
- PORTION sizes! Let’s make sure we get LOTS of protein on that plate, and be mindful of the extras
- Mashed Potatoes or Roast Potatoes as a small addition to the plate – not half of it
- Butter, Gravy and add extra calories to the dish – keep these portions in moderation, a little goes a long way
- ADD IN extra veggies – Greens!!!
Would I eat this plate of food everyday? No.
Will I switch it up and get some different macros and veggies in there next time? You betcha
