Eye Masks and Earplugs – How to sleep better

Who’s looking for a good night’s sleep?

Sometimes sleeping better comes down to using tools to help you.

Invest in a good Sleep Mask

How it helps:

  • Obviously, blocks outside light from windows, lights, even power source lights that can illuminate the room
  • The pressure on the face/eye area can be very comforting and soothing. Especially if you feel like you are wide awake and can’t close your eyes! Gentle pressure on your face to facilitate this feeling is helpful
  • If you find you wake up way too early with the sunrise, just pop it on to fall back asleep for another hour or so – you will feel fantastic! Don’t feel like you need to wear it all night.
  • Eye masks are PERFECT for quite midday naps if you need a little top-up

Try using Ear Plugs

How they help:

  • Obviously, blocks/softens outside noise
  • If you are someone who hears EVERYTHING whilst trying to fall asleep, ear plugs can buffer these sounds slightly to allow you to relax
  • Ear plugs amplify the sound of your breathing – which has a natural calming effect on your nervous system. Instead of counting sheep, try listening to your own breath!
  • If you are unsure about the comfort of ear plugs, try using one only. Lying on your side, put it in the ear that’s exposed. This way, you can alway turn your head to “hear” anything you want to, at any time
  • They may take a bit of time to get used to, but give them a try – they are cheap and easy to find
