Packed Lunch

“I don’t have anything to eat and I’m famished!”

This is a recipe for disaster, yet so many people go through the day like this!

They get up, get ready, and don’t pack ANY FOOD! At all!!! It always AMAZES me as I’m consistently leaving the house with my little cooler bag 😉

Set up for success

Buy yourself a cute little lunchbag – there are so many options out there now!

Make sure it is lined so that you can put a chilly pack in there on the warmer days.

Now, time to fill that bag!

Plan lunch in the morning

…Or preferably the night before!

When you are preparing breakfast (or getting ready in the morning), THINK: What should I pack for the day?

You might need to get up 10mins earlier to sort this out – make this a priority

Set the base

When we talk about the BASE, we’re usually referring to the PROTEIN.

This could be some leftovers from dinner, a can of tuna, boiled eggs, some chicken, etc.

Once you have this sorted, you’re away!

Frame it

Add in fruits & other carbs, veggies, and fats to bulk out the meal.

It really doesn’t have to be complicated.

You can make it as fancy as you like, or as simple as you like – some days I’m chucking carrots, apples, and chicken in my lunchbag like a mad woman! Life isn’t always smooth, but I’m ALWAYS thinking ahead!

Thinking ahead

This is the key to success in health & wellness. We need to think ahead a little bit, with EVERYTHING.

We may not be hungry NOW, but we are human, so we WILL BE HUNGRY LATER. If we happen to be somewhere away from healthy food options, this will be a recipe for disaster (we all know this).

To make this doubly troubling, most people skip breakfast (or eat a poorly balanced breakfast), so once they get to lunch they are literally famished, and undernourished… only to choose poor food options in desperation (and limited will power). It’s a lose-lose situation.

The key is to have a little bit of foresight, pre-planning, and organisation in order to ensure your success. It doesn’t have to take long (or be perfect), it just has to be consistent.

A little bit of effort now saves trouble down the road!
